Session Overlap Clock
Market hours don't move, but your clock does. Everything below is converted from UTC into your local time automatically.

Highest liquidity window: London and New York overlap for three hours (13:00–16:00 UTC). This is where the largest share of daily volume and the most reliable follow-through on breakout and momentum patterns tends to happen. Everything outside the three colored bands above is a session gap — noticeably thinner liquidity, and worth accounting for separately if you're backtesting or filtering by hour.
Session reference — your local time
| Session | UTC hours | Your local hours | Typical character |
|---|---|---|---|
| Asian | 00:00–08:00 | — | Thin liquidity, range-bound, wider spread |
| London | 08:00–16:00 | — | Highest volume, cleaner trend follow-through |
| New York | 13:00–21:00 | — | Overlap hours strong, thins out after London close |
| London / NY overlap | 13:00–16:00 | — | Highest volatility window of the day |
Broker server time → bot config
This is the part that actually matters for a live bot. Your start_hour andend_hour fields are checked against your broker's server clock, not UTC and not your local time. Most MT5 brokers run their servers at UTC+2 or UTC+3, and a lot of them shift with US daylight saving rather than your own — pick your broker's current offset below and get the exact numbers to paste into your config.
Broker server time right now: —
| Session | Broker server hours | Config field |
|---|---|---|
| Asian | — | — |
| London | — | — |
| New York | — | — |
| London / NY overlap | — | — |
// select an offset above
Double-check this against your actual terminal rather than trusting the offset alone — DST transitions don't always land on the same date as your own region's, which is a common way session filters quietly drift out of alignment for a few weeks a year. See the note on this in the broker time section of the Asian session mechanics post below.
